The motto of Princes Park Touch is “Social touch in Melbourne’s heart” and we intend to be the best social sporting organisation in Australia. We do this by providing the opportunity to learn the sport through our training programs, play in our weekly social competition, a pathway to progress through our refereeing and representative programs, and most importantly an atmosphere to socialise with other members.

All regular participants are members. Becoming a member means supporting our purpose:

To further social opportunities through touch football and other social sports for juniors and adults in the City of Melbourne and adjoining areas

Firstly please understand that our purpose is social opportunities through touch football. We are not a touch organisation we are a social organisation that plays touch. Our aim being fun and lifelong friendships amongst our members both within teams and between players, referees, and officials across teams in our social competitions.

For this to work we insist all players treat other members like friends. This involves three values essential for any friendship:

  1. Promp and honest communication

Whether its with you captain or our committee there is an explicit expectation to communicate honestly and promptly. This is especially important as we don’t have forfeits at PPT and this relies on players advising their captain promptly.

  2. Showing Up

If you are are available, then you should be there to play. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone or if the weather is poor

  3. Playing in good spirit

Its a competition so play hard, but the opposition are friends so play in good spirits

To keep things running smoothly, playing members are also expected to follow a few practical rules:

  • You should be in uniform

From week 3, every player must be in uniform. That means a non white of similar design and colour (to their teammates) that clearly identifies you as part of your team. This includes a permanent number on the back (no taped-on numbers).

Players out of uniform may be excluded or their team penalised.

  • You should play for one team only

Players are expected to be loyal to their team. As such they can only be a member of one team in the same format and night (i.e. two mixed or men’s teams on the same night is not permitted, without approval), players should not regularly fill in for other teams, and players should stick with the same team across multiple seasons (if that team is competing on the night they want to play)

  • You must wear appropriate footwear

Most footwear is fine. Runners or any type of flat soled shoe are fine. Shoes with small molded ridges, small stops, or dimples are also acceptable.

Long studs, screw in studs, or any type of metal spike cannot be worn.

  • We play in all weather

Touch football is an all-weather sport.

We don’t cancel games or training sessions unless required by law or if conditions are unsafe, both are rare. Always assume your game is on. If it isn’t, we’ll post a notice on the home page of the website.
Please don’t call or email us to check, just check the site.

  • You should register with TFA for insurance

Insurance is handled individually though the governing body of the sport, Touch Football Australia (TFA). To be covered, you must register with them. If you have not already sorted this start here now

  • You should understand that captains have additional expectations

    that are outlined here
